Buckets

The timeline groups your tasks by roughly when they are due, against your working days:

  • Overdue: due before today.
  • Today: due today.
  • Tomorrow: due the next working day.
  • Within a week: due over the next working week.
  • Within a month: due over roughly the next working month.
  • Later: due further out than that.

Plus the two side areas:

  • Backlog: open tasks with no deadline (and not off-peak).
  • Off-peak: open tasks you have parked.

And, collapsed at the bottom:

  • Completed: your done and cancelled tasks.

You can choose which days count as your working days in your account settings (the default is Monday to Friday). Maptero uses your choice everywhere it talks about working days, including where deadlines land and how the buckets are calculated.

The map moves itself

Every day, every task moves one step closer. Tomorrow becomes Today. Within a week becomes Tomorrow. You never have to drag tasks forward yourself: the timeline rolls on its own, so it is always relevant and up to date. Anything you missed surfaces in the red Overdue bucket rather than getting lost.

How tasks are ordered within a bucket

Inside each bucket, tasks are sorted so the most pressing rise to the top:

  1. Important tasks first.
  2. Then by deadline, soonest first.
  3. Then intense tasks.

If you have sent a task to the bottom, it stays below the natural order until you next edit it.

"All caught up"

When you have no overdue tasks, nothing due today, and an empty backlog (and you have completed at least one task), Maptero celebrates with a short burst of confetti, a green check, and a message ("You're all caught up!"). This is the daily finish line: focus on what is due now, and the rest is on your map.

The celebration fires once each time you reach the caught-up state. Once new work piles up and you clear it again, you get the celebration again.

There is also a softer everyday signal: when you have nothing overdue and nothing due today (even if your backlog is not empty), a green badge near the Today area tells you that today is done.

Sending a task to the bottom

To push a task down its bucket for now, use the down-arrow button on the card (desktop) or swipe left and choose "To bottom" (mobile). The task drops to the bottom. This is temporary and local to your device: it does not change anything for good, and it clears automatically the next time you edit that task.
