Quick glossary

  • Task: a single commitment, the basic unit of Maptero.
  • To-do: a task where the action is on you (yellow card).
  • Waiting-for: a task where you are waiting on someone else (blue card).
  • Open / Done / Cancelled: a task's status. Open is actionable; Done and Cancelled both move it to Completed (Cancelled meaning it became irrelevant).
  • Important: a yes/no "this matters now" flag, shown as a star.
  • Intense (Intensive): a yes/no "needs deep focus" flag, shown as a larger card.
  • Deadline: the date a task is due, which places it on the timeline.
  • Backlog: open tasks with no deadline, your guilt-free inbox.
  • Off-peak: tasks that matter but have no deadline and that you have parked off the timeline.
  • Scheduled: an open task that has a deadline.
  • Bucket: a timeline grouping by when a task is due (Overdue, Today, Tomorrow, Within a week, Within a month, Later).
  • Overdue: tasks whose deadline has passed; they surface here rather than getting lost.
  • All caught up: nothing overdue, nothing due today, empty backlog; the daily finish line.
  • Project: a private container for related tasks, with a short uppercase chip.
  • Goal: a deliverable inside a project; done automatically when its tasks are done.
  • Overview: the short written summary of where a project stands.
  • Contact: a private record of a person you work with.
  • Blocker: a task that must be resolved before another can be completed or continued.
  • Continue: closing a task and creating a linked successor, keeping the thread alive.
  • Recurrence: a rule that brings a task back with a new deadline when you close it.
  • Sparks: your monthly voice budget, shown as a lightning bolt and a number.
  • Send to bottom: a temporary push of a task to the bottom of its bucket, cleared on next edit.
