Recurrence

A recurring task comes back with a new deadline each time you close it. There are four patterns:

  • Every N days. "Water the plants every 3 days."
  • Weekly on a weekday. "Call Mom every Sunday."
  • Monthly on a date. "Pay rent on the 1st of every month." (If the date does not exist in a given month, like the 31st in a 30-day month, it falls back to the last day.)
  • Monthly on a weekday. The first, second, third, fourth, or last occurrence of a weekday each month. "First Wednesday of every month, team sync."

In the editor, the monthly option appears as "Monthly (by date)" and "Monthly (by weekday)," and the weekday version reads as a phrase like "On the [first] [Wednesday]." The rule is shown back to you as a badge on the card and in the confirmation panel, written out in your language.

Setting recurrence

Set it in the manual editor, or by voice as part of creating or updating a task. You confirm it like any other field. A recurring task always needs a deadline; if you create one without saying when, Maptero anchors it to today (moving forward to a working day if needed).

Closing a recurring task

When you mark a recurring task done, Maptero asks "Continue recurrence?" with two choices:

  • Confirm: the task is closed and a fresh copy is created with the same title, contacts, and details, and a new deadline worked out from the rule.
  • Stop recurring: the task is closed and no new copy is made.

The next deadline is worked out from the previous deadline plus the rule, so it stays on schedule even if you close the task a little late.

Things to know

  • Cancelling does not bring it back. Only completing a recurring task spawns the next one. Cancelling ends the recurrence.
  • Recurrence and off-peak cannot mix, because a recurring task needs a deadline and off-peak means no deadline.
  • A recurring task cannot be continued. A recurring task is a cycle, not a sequence. If you want to turn one into a thread, remove the recurrence first, then continue it.
