Continue is how you evolve a task into its next step instead of leaving it as an orphan checkbox. When you continue a task, Maptero closes the current one and creates a new linked task that carries on from it. One living thread, not a dead end.
The new task:
- Has its own title, type, deadline, effort, off-peak state, and important flag, which you provide.
- Automatically inherits the project of the task it follows.
- Automatically inherits the goal, if the task it follows was linked to one, so a thread of work stays attached to its deliverable. On desktop you can change or clear it in the editor before saving; by voice it is inherited and shown on the confirmation.
- Automatically inherits the contacts (you can change them).
- Stays linked to the previous phase, so you can always trace the thread back.
A card in a thread shows a small number badge for its depth, and the detail view has a "Previous phases" section you can expand to see the whole story.
How to continue a task
- By voice: "Done with the call, next phase is review the contract by Friday." "Finish the proposal, then send it to Sophie." "Continue with: waiting for Lena's feedback."
- On mobile: swipe right and tap Continue, which opens the Continue overlay. It shows the task you are continuing from, a mic primed to capture only the next phase, and a keyboard option to type it.
- On desktop: open the task and click Continue, then set the next phase and save. The previous phase is closed for you.
- From a project or a contact: open the project or the contact, tap one of its tasks to open it, and continue from there. The Continue button is available wherever you open a task, not only on the timeline.
You cannot continue a task that is blocked or one that is recurring.
