Your first task
The first time you sign in, Maptero invites you to create your first task. It suggests trying the mic with something like "Follow up with the team tomorrow," and shows the keyboard option alongside. On a phone you will be asked to allow microphone access; tap Allow to continue. Once your first task lands, Maptero asks whether you want to walk through the tutorials or skip them for now.
Tutorials
There are six short tutorials, played as full-screen overlays:
- Voice input. Press and hold, speak a task, release.
- Timeline shifts. How tasks move between Backlog, Today, and Off-peak, and how yesterday's open work slides into today automatically.
- Off-peak. What off-peak means and how to park a task there.
- Continue. Marking a task done and immediately speaking its next phase, so a thread stays alive.
- Card actions. The swipe (mobile) and hover (desktop) actions on a card, like marking important, sending to the bottom, and rescheduling.
- Edit task. The manual editor for the fields voice does not reach, like effort, blockers, specific deadlines, and recurrence rules.
For a brand-new account, these can play one after another on your first visit. You can stop any time; Maptero then points out the help icon so you know where to find them again.
The help hub
You can open the help hub any time from your Account (the user button in the header on desktop, or the Settings tab on mobile), then Help. It is a grid of all six tutorials, and the ones you have finished show a green check. From here you can replay any tutorial whenever you want.
Tips along the way
As you use Maptero, it shows occasional one-time tips at natural moments. For example, it might suggest setting a deadline on a backlog item, marking a few tasks important, grouping related tasks into a project, adding contacts so you can filter by who is involved, or setting a blocker when one task depends on another. Each tip appears only once, and you can step back and forward through the tips you have seen using the arrows on the tip card.
Installing Maptero
Maptero can be installed to your home screen (or desktop) like an app. On a phone, an install prompt appears once you have a couple of active tasks, so it arrives when Maptero is already useful to you rather than on your first visit. On iPhone this works in Safari and in other browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, and Edge: tap the share icon, then "Add to Home Screen". If you opened Maptero inside another app's built-in browser (for example from a link in Instagram or a messaging app), open it in your normal browser first, then add it. On Android there is an "Install app" button. If you dismiss the prompt it quiets down (it may reappear a few more times over the following days, then stops for good). On iPhone, and on Android with Chrome, a small "Install" chip stays next to the timeline so you can install whenever you like. On desktop, Chrome and Edge show an install button in your Account panel; on macOS Safari, use the File menu and choose "Add to Dock". Once installed, Maptero opens with its own splash screen and behaves like a native app.
