Beyond grouping tasks, a project can carry a living status that answers "where does this project stand?" without you maintaining a separate document. A status is made of a short overview narrative plus a list of goals.
Capturing an update
On a project's detail page, tap "New project info" to type, or hold the mic and speak a free-form update in your own words ("design is signed off, we've started building, next is shipping the MVP"). Maptero reads your update together with the project's current overview and goals and proposes a tidy result: a lightly revised overview (it changes as little as possible) and a set of goal changes (add, update, or remove).
You review before anything is saved
The proposal opens in a confirmation panel that shows a clear before and after: the overview as a sentence-level diff (changed sentences highlighted), and each goal change color-coded (green for new, blue for edited, red for removed) with a short reason. You can edit any line, leave out any change, or cancel entirely. Nothing is written until you confirm. Just like voice commands, Maptero proposes and you decide.
Goals and tasks
Each goal shows as a card with a target icon (two rings that gain a centered tick when the goal is done, so the shape itself changes with state, which also helps if you are colorblind). You can:
- Add a goal by typing ("+ Add goal") or by voice (the goal-row mic captures what you say into the editor for a quick check before saving).
- Edit or delete a goal inline.
- Create a task straight from a goal, by typing ("+ Add task") or by voice (the goal's mic makes the task in the project and links it to that goal).
- Link an existing task to a goal from the editor's Goal dropdown.
A task can belong to at most one goal, while a goal can have many tasks. Linked tasks appear under their goal; other project tasks appear under "Other tasks." A small goal chip also shows on the task's card and detail view, so the connection is visible from the timeline.
Completion happens on its own
A goal is done once all its linked tasks are done. There is no "mark this goal done" button: it is always worked out from the tasks. A project shows a "Completed" badge once every goal is done and there is no outstanding work left. This updates live, so completing a task anywhere updates the badge immediately, with nothing to mark by hand. To drop a goal, you simply remove it (there is no separate cancel or complete action for a goal).
The journal
Confirmed AI status updates and new goals are saved into a journal you can expand: the date, a one-line summary of what changed, and the overview and goals as they stood at the time. This keeps a record of the substantive updates over a project's life.
The project status feature is open to everyone, not tied to a particular voice tier. Like other AI features it uses a little of your monthly spark budget.
